What you can expect from horse riding in Loch Ness
Are you an experienced horse rider that wants to see Loch Ness and its surrounding landscapes from the saddle? At The Lovat, we can arrange to have you taken out on horseback when you stay at our hotel.
At the local Loch Ness Riding centre in Dores near Inverness, you’ll find a small and friendly riding yard near one of the world’s most famous and beautiful bodies of water.
Loch Ness Riding accepts only experienced riders, who must be competent at all paces, so this is not the same as horse trekking. The site offers good off-road riding, indoor and outdoor arenas, show jumps and cross-country. The yard is located on the 50 mile “Trail of the 7 Lochs” and suitably competent riders may be able to arrange a 2 day tour of the Trail on horses.
Tuition by a qualified instructor is available on the well schooled horses, some of which compete up to international level in Endurance (the yard specialises in training for Endurance). The Lovat hotel can arrange this for you and combine it with a stay at our luxury hotel in Loch Ness.
