GREEN IS THE NEW GOLD
At The Lovat Loch Ness, we understand how important it is to be environmentally aware and take an eco-conscious stance towards hospitality and business. We have developed a strong and focused eco-conscious policy that encompasses the individual contributions of our guests, as well as on a wider scale in the functioning of our business.
As part of the hotel’s 2006-2007 refurbishment, we installed a fully automated Froling Turbomatic 85kW wood chip boiler, the first of its kind to be installed in the Highlands. This wood chip boiler provided central heating and hot water to our hotel.
In 2013, we installed an ETA 199Kw biomass woodchip boiler, offering increased efficiency. This new installation has the government RHI scheme. Our advanced wood chip boiler offers individual timing and temperature control on each bedroom, bathroom and public rooms via a specially-designed computer PRIVA programme.
Between February 2007 – 2010 we used around 756,000 kWh. This represents a saving of around 190 tonnes of Co2 when compared with the likely emissions of our previous oil boiler.
At The Lovat Loch Ness, we are carbon conscious and one of the ways we showcase this is through our support for Scottish conservation charity, Trees for Life. For every hotel bedroom booked, we donate 15p to Trees for Life. The charity engages volunteers to plant trees and restore wildlife habitats across the Scottish Highlands, and all trees planted are native species such as Scots pine, oak, alder, aspen, willow and more.
The Lovat Loch Ness is proud to support a cause so close to the hotel and also so close to our grounded eco-conscious ethos.
