Homemade Chutney Recipe
If you are like me and a fan of a small afternoon snack, we have a great recipe to add a little flavour to your sandwich or cheese and cracker (recipe to follow over the coming months)….our garden marrow, apple and onion chutney
Chutney is one of those condiments that does not naturally spring to mind to use as a spread but this little recipe may just change your way of thinking.
INGREDIENTS
2 Granny Smith apples
1 Bramley apples
4 Gala apples
2 large marrow
300g soft brown sugar
300g red wine vinegar
2 onions
150g raisins
1 tsp mixed spice or to taste
Have a look through your kitchen cupboards, fridge or pantry to see what may also compliment your homemade chutney.
METHOD
Finely chop onion, apples (with skin on) and marrow (with skin on).
In a stainless steel heavy bottomed pan, place ‘all’ the ingredients together and bring to the boil then simmer for about 1hr+ until the mixture is jam like. Add raisins and spice towards the end.
Now all that is left to do is enjoy!!
We would love to know how you get on and what your homemade chutney accompanied.
