Time to work off all that Christmas cheer – Inverness Half Marathon
We’ve all been guilty of falling into the ‘new year new you’ motivational trap, then being let down by our own lack of enthusiasm. The new year’s resolutions that we swear by that take a little commitment and end up being a passing comment or a throw away thought. Well, there’s nothing better to get you up and running than signing up for a running challenge… A challenge in the shape of a half marathon.
The Inverness Half Marathon is being held on Sunday 8th March 2020. So now is the time to sign up and get your number. Once you’ve signed up, this will motivate you to burn off that extra serving of Christmas dinner, or those extra couple of pints on New Year’s Eve. Give yourself a challenge to work towards, sign up and fundraise for one of their charity partners. This will motivate you to push through your barriers, to find your pace and to smash your goal.
The half marathon starts at 12:30 in Bught park along the banks of the River Ness. Taking you around the scenic route of the city. There will be water stations dotted along the route before the finishing line at Queen’s Park stadium at Inverness sports centre. The Inverness half was achieved by nearly 3000 runners in 2019.
If the half marathon feels like you’re biting off more than you can chew, there’s also the Inverness 5k. The 5k also starts at 12:40 in Bught park and the route takes you along the banks of River Ness. Ideal if you’re looking for a shorter distance. For someone who is a beginner at running or someone who wants to get back into running.
